Adwords is an advertising product by Google. As of year 2010, Google made not less than $28 billion in revenue from advertising. Google AdWords offers three types of advertising programs, and they are the site targeted banner, pay-per-click (PPC) and cost-per-thousand.
- CPM (cost-per-thousand)
The letter “M” actually represents the Roman numeral sign for 1000. Hence, CPM stands for cost-per-thousand. This is commonly used in Internet marketing in pricing advertising banners. Advertising sites will provide product advertisers their rate for every 1000 set of impressions. The term impression refers to the number of times a certain product banner was visited or downloaded by website visitors.
E.g. $20 CPM X 6,000 impressions
6,000 impressions / 1000 = 6
$20 CPM X 6 = 120
- PCP (pay-per-click)
This is another type of Internet marketing pricing used by Internet publishers. Advertisers and Internet publishers will have an agreed rate each time an online advertisement was clicked regardless if the clicker bought the advertiser’s products or not.
- Site Targeted Banner
This type of online advertising refers to the promotion of services and products by posting advertising banners in a high traffic online publisher or website.
